After washing the wool we card the fibres to make them fluffy. Some is soft enough to spin & is set aside. The rest we use as the core for our animal friends.
Sizing & shaping-tummies & faces
We take just the right amount of wool to start needle felting into the shape we need to create our friends. Wool has tiny barbs on it that stick together when they are rubbed or subjected to heat (think of shrinking woolly jumpers!) We use barbed needles to stab the wool until it knits together to form the shape we want.
When the shape is right we can add coloured wool and/or stab to create detail. Then we choose the right eyes and features to make our friends come to life...
